The Letter of Intent to Establish Bowen Inc.

Our Origins

Dear Sir:

     We submit the following business history and current status for your consideration.

     Prior to 1933, Arnold Bowen was part owner and a member of the firm of Cramp and Company, one of the largest commercial, industrial and heavy construction outfits in the East with multi million dollar contracts ranging from the Bermudas to Canada. Internal dissension, plus a generally depressed business condition, brought about a dissolution of this company in 1933; with all assets liquidated and each partner proceeding his separate way. Arnold Bowen was in complete charge of all outside components for the last 18 years of this companies existence, having under his control, all except strictly office functions.

     With Cramp and Company terminating operations, the present company was inaugurated, with Arnold Bowen as sole owner; which status exists to this day. In 1935, Arnold Bowen, with education finished, stepped from summer employment basis, to full time occupation with this company.

     The business philosophy, of taking only that volume of work which you can personally tend to yourself, has been from the start, and is now, the underlying creed for our entire operations. Without intending to seem egotistical, I might point out that with few exceptions, we turn down more potential business volume than we take, in any given year.

     Our growth has been slow, and intentionally so, as we suffer no aspirations for largeness, and prefer to remain small, with the complete personal touch on every job. We have never done a job for anyone, large or small, where the customer has felt that he did not get his full measure of value and satisfaction from his construction dollar. As proof of this, we are well received today in any place where we have ever done a job, including several clients with whom, for reasons of our own, we chose to terminate our associations. After the first few years, we have been most fortunate in being able to a great extent, to choose our own customers; naturally, first of all we want a client who wants and appreciates a job done right and on time for least cost. Secondly we want to be sure that financial stability is such that payments are sure to be timely. This second proviso has worked so well, that we have never found it necessary to borrow money for any of our operations, with the business being conducted solely with our own capital.
